This is Rúf English Radio with Darin Adam, daily English language radio from Iceland's national broadcaster, Rúf.Hello, this is Rúf English Radio. My name is Darin Adam. Thanks very much for your company today.I've come to get some fresh air and I don't think the air comes much fresher than where I'm standing right now.I'm not sure it comes much colder either to be honest.Almost at least it's going to be very, very cold as we head into winter. It's a bit chilly today but it's mainly the wind that's making it feel as cold as it does.I'm right on the north coast of Iceland and I'm very close to the town of Blundus, just down from the main part of the town.I visited the textile museum recently and that's a fascinating place but it also has a wonderful view of what you would call the beach. But I guess the beach I'm looking at here is not anything that fits a convention. It's not a conventional description of a beach. There is black sand under these boiling waves that are rolling up at tremendous speed up onto the shore. There are some coastal walks and paths along the nearby river, the Blanda river, and along the shoreline as well.If you do want to enjoy the, I was going to say, peace and quiet of this part of Iceland, it's certainly quiet. There aren't many people around but it's pretty noisy when you consider the waves that are coming right up to the shoreline here.I'm standing right at the top of the shore and the waves are coming right up to the very tip here. You can hear them battering in.It really is very beautiful. There's a small pier as well here that you can walk out onto which I'm going to do.I just met a lady.I just met a lady.I just met a lady.I just met a lady with her too.Extremely noisy but very friendly dogs that came bounding up to me wondering what I was doing in their part of Iceland, I imagine. But they were being walked, as I say, on this pier, this short pier that you can walk down here if you want to really get a sense of being right in amongst these very strong waves that are battering the north of the town today. There have been some very windy conditions, very stormy autumnal conditions. They have been very windy conditions in much of north and northwest Iceland over the last couple of days and if what I'm seeing here today is anything to go by, those conditions are not going to abate for some hours yet.So if you're in Blundus, if you're in the northwest of Iceland or the north of Iceland, this is definitely worth coming to visit just for a bit of, as I say, whatever your definition of peace and quiet might be.If it includes what I'm seeing right now.If it includes what I'm seeing right now.then please do enjoy. There are many birdsactually sittingbobbing around on thewater, quite calmlyenjoying their day.Quite unconcerned by thewaves that are liftingthem up and down towards the shore. This is Roof EnglishRadio.
