Hæ, hæ, hæ.Hæ, hæ, hæ.Hæ, hæ, hæ.Hæ, hæ, hæ.It's lovely to see another sort of club building up and great kudos to Siki down there. And it was really nice having them at Fylkesotlin and just, you know.Well, I mean, I always like it when small communities can feel the basketball team. And I mean, I remember when I was, back when I was playing when I was like 21,there was a specific division that was just the south of the country. It was like Hækla, that was Hækla, Flúðir, Lugjarvætt, Lugtalir, Selfos.I think Hamur was too good for us at that point and they were probably in the first or super division or something like that. But yeah, I remember that we played mostly just around the teams around us.I honestly really, I really liked that, honestly.Yeah, like I, there was also a thing, I think something from the past that hopefully is coming back this season or nextwas like the Reykjavík Cup.Oh.I know there was Otter.Arman was talking about trying to reignite that, that competition.Well, that might be, I mean, that might be fun.I mean, there's already the pre-season, the pre-season tournament Iceland Glacial has started.I think one game was played already and there are a couple of games, a couple of games still going.I mean. And I think, I think Selfos has set up a tournament as well. That may be.I've, I've been trying. There's just loads, there's just loads. We've been trying to follow stuff. It's great that the season's started, yeah.Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've been trying to follow stuff, but you know, it's.Right, where do we want to start? So I was going to say last year wrap.Well, I mean, I mean, I'm sure our listeners have been following Iceland and it's beenno problem at all, but, but there are, I mean, we just, we didn't talk, we didn't talk.Sorry, I'm watching David answer silently a phone call, a FaceTime and just go, shh,I'm on a phone call.We have, we, you know, we have the only deaf group playing basketball in the whole of Iceland. So I'm.I'm getting used to kind of.Was that, was that, was that, was that the, no, that was the wife of the coach, right?Yeah, but I'm getting used to kind of like how to talk to it.Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's so great, like. You're, you, hang on, you're, you're learning a little. No, but also.ISL.A tiny bit.Icelandic sign language.A tiny bit, like this is coffee and.Oh, really? You have to say good morning and all this. But I had a young girl at one of my summer camps and she had translators.Well, that's interesting because translators, they don't have, they translate everything.Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, so that the person doesn't go, oh, what are they saying? And I think you're saying something bad.So I had to truly watch what I was saying.Yeah, yeah, and if you sneeze, they probably have a sign for that as well. But it was really great. No, but at the end of last season, it was fantastic.I remember.Yeah.Sat with my boys watching the finals and just, it was so exciting.I mean, I, I don't think we covered the last game of the season and I'm just going to talkabout just the last game of the season.Well.But quickly.Yeah, we'll talk about, we'll talk about the players on both sides very quickly.Well, the last, the last series. The finals on both sides. The, the players have been great. And then we get to the finals and it was weird.Like, Gríntavík on the men's side, kind of just, they, well, let's see, they win thefirst two games. If I recall correctly, I think.Yeah, they win the first two games. Then Tintastótt gets one back and they're going, and they're going away to Söðakrokurto play against Tintastótt.And half of the team is injured.Yeah, I was going to say.Ole, Ole is on half a leg.Kane is not going to play. But this is where you, okay.I met, I met the Gríntavík team.Yeah.In Hotel Bakki.Varmaðlíð, I think.Basically.Basically just outside Söðakrokur, yeah. No, about an hour before.Yeah, yeah. And it's kind of, it's the headteacher of the My Boys Dance School owns the hotel.Yeah.So we, we were coming back, I think we were in Akureyri for a tournament. And we came back, stopped there for dinner. It was late.And.and then my boy was likedaddy that's the Grindvik thingand thenI asked the coach ifKane was around to get a picture and he said nothat's why I text youbut they had a picture withSempleand you were like Davidthat's not Kaneand I said no I know that's Semplewe asked him for a picturethe way you worded it was likewhere's Kaneand there's a picture of your boy and SempleI'm like David come on man that's not KaneI was likehow do you not know players on this teamit was a really funny misunderstandingbut then we watched it the next dayand then we found out of course that they were injuredand not playingthe injured players weren't travelling the day beforeyeah and just what an atmosphereand just what a gameI mean it was a really reallyfun gamewell the thing isI expected it to beclose-ish maybebut thenI mean PargoJeremy Pargo justdecided to havethe game of his lifehe made sure he didn't loseI mean 40 years oldhe had 40 something points in that gameand justnobody could stop himand the other thingplayers like Unsteadlow-key bench playerson Grindavík stepping upbecause they had toand Unstead I think hadsixsix really important pointsat a crucial moment in the second halfand justeverything just somehowwent rightand Tintaslótt justhonestly foldedI meanthey didn't getthey didn't getthey didn't get trounced or anythingbut I mean you would expectthat a team like Tintaslótt wouldn't lose3-1 to Grindavíkbut Grindavík was justI mean something was going onand they wereand they really werehitting their strideat the correct momentin thein thein theand it was so greatlike I hadI had likecoachesand there was playersI know that went to Grindavíkthe next dayto watch all the celebrationseverythingand justyeah really well done to themand thenon thewomen's sidewomen's sideI was about to saylikeI've been likeI've been reading upand division team, we can maybe talk about the first divisionlater but I mean like a superdivision team, even in the preseasonI never like to see them loseto a team that'sone division below themHjalti is recruited big timeYeah, don't get me wrong, Ia is going to bevery very good in the first divisionbut Njárvíkshould beat themI have them winning the first divisionYeah, me too, but I meanbut even so, we've talkedabout this before, likehow farthe step up betweenfirst and second, first andsuper division. You can also do it two different ways, like last yearFylkja playedÍr in a preseason friendlywith just Icelandic players with Írand we lost by oneYou don't look, ok, you lookat it two ways, you either play a preseasonand you're testing your Icelandicplayers, or you've got the whole teamearly, the foreigners earlybecause some teams don't get theforeigner untilthea month later to save moneyYou don't want to have to payanother month's wages, another month'srent, whatever, car and all thisSo do you get what I mean?Yeah, sure, butyeah, but stillOk, so I've gotIt's not a good look to loselike that. Of course, I also thinkjust the travel factor with these two teamsthey're going to get winsanyway, but it's just howmuch, you knowI mean, yes, it was only 12points, sure, but it's still 12pointsSo that's, so myI mean, and we can talk about this, I'm willingto change this if you think I'm absolutelyfull of itThis is your opinion and my opinionI have Sinton in the 10th positionI have AdamWhat would you putWhat does Njárðurík's summer readingneed to be like? What did they need to improve?Because they weren't goodenough last yearNo, I think it'show to have a good reviewof the season and where to go fornext. I'm honestly thinking likeI think NjárðuríkHow to analyse where you went wrong last yearBut have theyMy question is have they been building uptheir youth well enoughbecause, I mean, yeah, they haveVegard Pálk, sureBut, I mean, remember, they brought ina Fjölnir guy last year, BenjarKauri, I think it wasYeah, but like, they're bringingin youth from other teamsand besides Vegard Pálk, I'm tryingto think, I mean, Snjólfursure, like, SnjólfurSnjólfur is kind of on the, I'm not gonna seeon the back end of his career, but likehe's not, he's over 30, Ithink, I'm pretty sureAre NjárðuríkHave Njárðurík beengood enough in building up theirI meanand obviously they've lost playerslike Milka, do you thinkthat's a plus or a minus? Is it, I meanso, Haukarto get this, Haukar and Njárðurík have switchedtheir centers. Haukar Hallgrímssonmy cousin, I saidthis is such a small country, he hasgone to Njárðurík and Milka has goneto HaukarHaukar is avery athletic, very strongyoung, agilecenter whoI'm gonna say is not as experiencedas Milka and doesn'thave his offensivearsenal. I think I remember him lastyear, he's a decent boyHe's a good player, but he'snot as offensively aptI say, I would say asMilka, although Milka isI meanhe's, I mean his abilityto gofrom paint to painthas always been in question for a coupleyears, he kind of chugs alonghe's not as fast up and downthe court as he was, he's stillvery big, very strong and very good onfence, but I mean it's been talkedabout for years that defensively he's a liabilityYeah, I putSo again, is it a good or a bad thing forNjárðurík to lose him?I think they needed a freshstart, I think it's good that they'vebut I put Njárðuríkgetting in theeighth spot, and I putJæri næn, Iwasn't sure, likeI just thought, I love the fact that theBorce factor, and I think, I've always saidhe's one of the highestrated coaches I believeyou know, great coaches in the countrybutlike you've justhinted, like he's getting the backing that heneeds, and are theygoing to take that stepfrom, because many games lastyear, they won by one or two pointsand he did a great, great job, butyou know, I'd lovein my heart of hearts, I think they're going to finish higherbut it's just, I don't knowSo, butto keep going, we're getting aheadof ourselves, Sintri, what dowhat did they need, I mean SintriI'm putting them in tenth, you put them in bottomI think they, I thinkI think their scouting has been goodI think they've added some good playersand I think they have achance, especially with a difficultdifficult home court tofor teams to travel to. And it's got to beinteresting, because you've got to go, like how do yousay to a player, ok, we want you tocome and live six hours awaylike let's say a player fromWell they don't care, they're going to be in the town anyway. I get thatBut you're, let's say you're a player from ReykjavíkYeah, yeah, yeah. You're six hours awaySure. You're going to travel all the timesix hours to a game, six hoursback or five and a half, whatever it isIt's one away game in the seasonNo, I'm not talking about thatI'm saying SintriTo recruit, like you said they recruitYeah, yeah, yeah. I meant foreign playersOk, but I was going to say, foreignplayers, it's just, you know, who careswhere they stay, as long as you pay them enough moneythey're going to come and stay whereverYou know, that's theof it. Players, foreign playersgive them the money, yeah, we'll playwherever, butI mean, well, they've managed to add someI mean, I'm not saying thatAleksandr Jan Rapsson from Bredablik is a hugename, but I was honestlyvery impressed that he decided to gothere, and I think itshowsI mean, I don't know how muchthis is the son of theBredablik coach, RapskristianssonRapskristiansson knows basketball and his sonI don't knowdid this despite what his dad saidor if his dad helped him out with thisbut I mean, that tells me somethingWe've said it before, years ago, with Vestriwe said, it's better for the top playersjust to make that stepup from the first division, go tothese, to the countryside teamsand get experienceyou know, and I agree with you, it's good thatI just, Ialways believe, with the teams that have comeup, it's a big factoron, you know, Armansaid last year, it's a big hit tothe wallet, it's a big hitfor sponsorship and everythingit's a big hit to sort oftravel costs and everythingelse, refereeing costs, all theextra things, and being in that top divisionjust to surviveit's a verydifficult thing, so I just wonderI always thinkin any sport, trying to finish oneplace above relegation is agreat season, and I've putArman again in 10th, I think it'sdifficult, I think it would be difficult againall right, let's, well, so we'veso we don't agree on the relegationspots, so I think that NjærvíkI wonder whether we agree on anythingjust go through your listI'll go 1-5, I'll go1-12I had, sorry, Höftur 12Njærvík 11, Sintri 10I have Ír 9, just out of the playoffsOh, we agree on somethingI have Arman, Ithink that they've added someplayers, and I think they're not gonnaI think they're gonna do okayI have Keflavík in 7th, I have Valurin 6th, I have Stjarnan in 5thKaur in 4th, Áltanessin 3rd, Tintastóttin 2nd, I mayI'm kind of thinking maybe I'll switch those twoand then I have Grindavík in 1stI think Grindavík, despite losingPárgón, we'll get to that laterso what's your list? I've goneSintri, VátturArman, ÍrI've gone thenKeflavík and NjærvíkI'm not too sure which way round they'll beValur in 6thKaur, Stjarnan, I wasn't 100%sure, 4th or 5th, so I think thatcan be interchangeable, Tintastótt3rd, Áltaness 2nd, and Grindavík1st. We sort of agree onso weagree on Valur in 6thwe agree on Grindavík in 1stwe agree on Ír in 9thStjarnan, Kaur4th, 5th, I just think that Kaurhas a more exciting teamalthough Stjarnan does havein some positions they have a moreexperienced and better teambut my problemI think, the problem I'm seeing withStjarnan isis their bench too shortI think Kaur may have a morea more usablebench I think than Stjarnanand for example I think Valurthat's the same with themand I kind of wonderalso there's been big changes at ValurSvali is no longer the chairmanhe's stepped backyou've gotwho's taking overI remember in the press releasehe's like, you'll know very soonwho the new, and I've heard nothingno ideabut you know, there wasrumours spreading that is ChristopherAcox and Kauri going to be therepeople have said, don't be silly Davidthey're going to be therebut it's just, like you sayit's, I think theBooker effect is, you sawthat when he went out with his knee injurythat's a huge, like you saythe impact of Tthe impact of the team player that he isit's just hugeand dragging people upand getting the crowd goingnobody justyeah, and I think losingKali, that'sto me that was the prospect on the benchthat should have, you know, could have done morebut then you look, okthey've lost a lot of their young playersit's great, great newsbut a lot of their young ones are nowabroad this year, I think there's five or sixthey announced the other dayyeah, yeahtheythey arethey're helping a lot of kidsgo abroad this yearwhich is good, I mean, good honorwhich is great newsand it's really brilliantbut I wonder, that then affects your benchlike you saidit'sit'll be interestingyeahbut maybe all of the players that haveleft us are going backI don't know, soso, butlet's keep going down the listso we know what we don't agree onbutsowhy do youso you think Árman is going to be in 10th thenmhmalright, wellmhmyes, they did losetheir best playerin Breit Guðmundssonbut, I mean, I don't know, I feel likethey added Styrmið Jónasonfrom Íða, which I thinkis, that is a really good add-onthey havethey got Magnús Engell Þalgirfrom Skallagimur originallyI think, from Gryndavíkthey got Kenyon Hodgesfrom Kaukarthey've kept Ingeður GuðmundssonArnaldur Gríms and Sarko JúkertI think, likethe continuity of the teamdespite losing Brailleand not knowing if Cedric Bowenor Brandon AverittI mean, none of these guys I think are coming backbut, I don't know, I feel likeI feel like Ármanmaybe I did put themtoo high withthe 8th positionI thought Cedric was going topotentially going to Valda, I don't knowyou know what, I'm looking at it right nowbut, I am going to put Árman in9th and I'm going to put Ír in8th, I think Ír will sneak into theplayoffs. So who have you got in 10th now?Sindriand Njæðavík getting relegatedNjæðavík is your big changeYou think Njæðavík is going to be in 7th?I don't think so manI respect their coachI have immense respect to Runarbut I meanhe really has to hit on hisforeign player signingsandthat hasn't always happenedsometimes he's really hit on itand obviously these are just power rankingsit's just how strong I think the team is right nowOk, so we haven'tgot Tinderstadt for exampleWe're going to keep going down manrelaxWe haven't talked anything about KeplavíkI've got them in 7th or 8thI was about to say Keplavík, I have them in 7thand you sort of have them in 7thI think gettingBreit Guimundsson is good for thembut I don't seethat much strength on the squadbesides that right nowI mean, well I meanthey have some young playersand they have some foreign playersbut every team has thatand also the guy that I reallyI just loved his energyis he retired now?Keplavík?No, he went to Þórþórlósöpnhe's going back to his old home teamin the first divisionThat's what I was confused aboutThey have some foreign playersand Breit GuimundssonThey have re-signedDaniel Guinetheir head coachand then some of the young guysAgainYes, young playersmight be good or might be notbut most teams have young playerson their team who might be goodor might not beI'm putting them in 7thValurAre welike you sort of hinted at earlierare we coming to the end of sort of theValur dynasty era or somethinglikewill Christopher Acox andKaur Jónsson be there in one yearafter the end of this seasonThat's a very good questionI know, I know, that's why I'm askingbecause they're losingFrank-Karren BokurIt'll be interesting to know when all their contracts are upEven the coach FinnaI'll probably find that out for youKeep talkingNo, I just kind of think like you've saidit's maybe like losingto me, losing Svalluwho's the chairmanthat's a big hole to fillYeah, it is, it very much isI wonder withwasn't one of their main sponsorssold his companyI don't know, I'm sureValur is my teamso I hope they'll still be fineThis is really funnythere's a webpage on Kaukoinot one playerthis is usually they have to sendthese contracts inValur has not sent in one contractat allIt'sandyeahso Valur hasI seem to recallI think Kaurino, Kauri resigned at the end of the seasonso he's at least two more yearsAcoxI cannot remember if he has one or two years left on his contractor if he re-uppedthis summerNo, they signed a point guardSpanish point guardPablo BertoneEven with him backI don't think they'veeven with him backyes, adding Dwayne Lauterwas okand adding Pablo Bertonewas ok, but againthese are two aging playersIgor has gone somewhere elseI wrote that down as a minusI think he's benefited from havingan experienced shooter like that on the teamso I'm saying like ValurValur was in fourth positionlast seasonI think sixth isvery veryreasonableI don't think they're going to be greatI don't think they're going to be terribleand who knows, they may again belike the old Valurwhere they just kind of chug alongand then during the playoffsthey hit their stride or somethingand I mean it'sobviously I mean Frank Aaron Bookerhe broke hiskneecapbut apparently he's rehabbinghe'll be back very soon I heardI don't think it's unkind to say that Valuris going to be in sixth placeHonestly I think they could go lowerFrom the way we're talking, yeah they could even be lowerFifth position, SterlundWe already sort of touched on itI think Emil Paré might do very good thingswith this teamhe's going to do with his foreign player picksumCauérand we'vethrown away the summer reading thinga long time ago, he didn't seem excited about itNo no no, we arewe're just trying to like alsoI think it's great, I'm just conscious of timeDavid has a couple timespointed at his watch as ifget the speed up manWe talk far too muchNo but Cauér, I think it was justTheir book would have been more of the sameActually they were reallyStay on this courseI really like what they're doingJust don'tStay the course, keep goingThey've re-signed LinardsThey've umOn a simple note, I love the fact thatI email Jakob and he answers straight awayYeah I work for himDavid is watching thatI'm coaching for Cauér thisThat sounds such a silly simple thingbut when you email somebody and they replywithin the day, to me that'sYeah no, I mean likeI sent him somethingI sent him a message yesterdayHey man I won't be able to do thistraining in two months timeand he was like, yeah no problem, we'll figure it outAnswered me almost immediatelyHe's a good guy and I think he willcontinue to do good things withI love the fact that, didn't they bring inanother Finnish coach?Yes, so Jere Antilais still the assistant coachbut I think they did bring in anotherFinnish coach for the youthI just can't rememberwhich youth teamMy question thenIs Cauér still a dark horse? It's kind ofThey've kind of been likethe team that nobody sort of expected to doI said fourth or fifthI don't think you can call them a dark horse anymoreI think they'reI mean they're notThey haven't reached the heights again ofsix years in a rowAlso that really top guy fromafter sister team, he is nowstepped up I think to be in the wayFredrik Anton, he had a reallyI really liked him in the playoffs last yearand he finallyI hate to rag on this guybut I felt like he finally sort ofgot it to play defenseand he was rebounding betterin my opinionand he was doing stuff that I wanted him to do the whole seasonThird positionI could beI could be convincedto put Tintastóttir in third positionThey haven't changed that muchThey'veI mean they did lose, I mean they lost Baziland they'veThey probably won't doThey won't probably bring back Dolentschlast year which everybody wasnobody talked kindly aboutBut they're also doing somethingdifferent in Europe I think this yearI think they're just gonnaI've read something about thatI think they're going into the ENBL againThey're gonna go to the EuropeanCup League thingone more year and I don't think that's a bad ideabut I wonderdo they have thedo they have enough playersbecause this is a gruelingthing to doI also want to give them praise as wellIs it Isaac William? He's gone there topointed him to be the assistant coachbut also he's gone there towell I read that Tintastóttirsort of press releaseor whatever like the fact thathe's gone there also to help sort out the youthmake it more sustainableI mean he's obviously gonna beI saw this as more of a youthcoach signingI mean obviously he's gonna help Artur Guðjónsout a lot but I saw this asa very good thing for the youth teamsI also love the fact that the connection is thereThey've helped us outHelped Fylkja out in the summerjust with advice and certain things that they doand everything elseI really love the fact thatI don't know why but this summer the basketball communityseems to just be very helpfulSome teams are, some teams aren'tYeah it's just, it's lovelyand really thank you to everybodySo Altonisthe most expensive teamI know, I'm gonna ask you the question likeI know they've built a lot of houses thereYeahbut at what point do they gohey our court is notbig enough in the fact thatthey have twothey have two courtsbasically and the middle isyou could say the same withFylkja's of thembut there's other schools and everything that they usedo Altonis use, is there othervenues around that they use or is thatlike for example for youthis that the only thing they useI don't knowAltonis isn't as biga town as you think it isand I thinkI think having two courts thereduring the day forthe youth is fineand then they havethe whole court for the men's teamOk so then put it the other waythat's fine so then is itsustainable what you've saidlike you've said many times we've touched on itthe spending they've done this summeris that sustainable then for the size of clubthat they are at the minuteI don't know they havethey do have some good youth players I thinkI've seen some decentplayers there and I mean they have some decentcoaches as well soI don't knowI think it'll depend on justhow they, I mean you can always spendmoney but if you don't bring inyouth playersit'll be difficult but they are luckyenough that they are despitebeingdespite being a small sort of community they arein the Reykjavík capital areaso they can easily get playersfrom other teamscase in point CUPso I meanI don't think they're in trouble but I meantheir summertheir summerI think there will come a time whereI've written down heremy question about themdo they have endless fundsyeah I would have said their summerwould have been how do we growor how do we buy a championshipwhat wouldthen be recoverybecause they havehow to sustainhow to sustainthe very good season they had last yearthat's kind of my pointI'm not worried about sustainingwith Arnar GuðlundI'm worried that we're going to run out of time for womenalright well last teammy only question for them isthey've added some playersthey've added Mirsa Bulic who played for Keppleg last yearwhich I think might be a goodhave been a good signing for themI've heard the rumorand I don't know how much istrue about this that ParcoParco mightcome back the latter part of the seasonyou mean like January if they need some helpyeah yeahand I'm like alright okso he gets thehe gets Autumn to relaxyeah that was what happenedat the end of the season was the whole thingwith Kane and the stories of being arrestedwhen he went home and all this kind of thingoh yeah we didn't even touch on thatso Kane for our listeners I'm surepeople have heard about thisDeandre Kane flew hometo the statesandI think he was arrested at the airporthe was justhe was brought in at the airport because ofI think it was unpaid alimonyyeah child supportyeah child supportyeah child supporthe owed a lot of moneyfor a child he didn't know allegedlyyeah he wasn't toldhe wasn't told allegedlyor hedidn't believe it was his or whateverbut it all got sorted apparentlyyeah apparently I thinkhe actually footed the billthat's the rumor I've heardGrindavík just footed the bill for his child supportand now he's coming back I guessI meanGrindavík is one of the best playerswho has ever played in Icelandbutthere is never a calm momentaround this guyI would say for Grindavík their summer reading would have beenwhat do we do nextno because like lots of people thoughtlike they always saidthree year plan or three year fundingbutthe town seems to change its mindevery bit whether they're open or notas in like are we having childrenare we buildingit's aI think everyone has a soft spot for thembut doit would be great if they did it againI thought it was a lovely wayto sort of close the book onI mean obviouslythey're still having a lot of trouble with the townandhomes being torn down or beingdisused or whatever butthem winning the championship I feel was likeit was really sort of the feel goodstory of last yearmoving on to the womenI'm sorry I'm sorry that we're so terriblybad with our timingI'm gonna goI'm gonna start just at the bottomand work my way up thank god it's only10 teamsI say in the 10th position we got Fjölnirwho's coming inI got Tinta stótt in the 9th positionI've got ArmanI think they've signed enoughthat they're gonna be okayI got Stjartan in the 8th positionand that's partially because ofthat they got thrashed by Njárðuríkyesterday or the day beforeand just I haven't seen enough good signingsI haven't seen enough good signingsI think Keplarik is in realtrouble and they're gonna be in the 7th positionI thinkArman is in the 6th positionI think Valdur's gonna be in 5thI think Haukar are in 4thKaur in 3rd Njárðurík in 2ndand they're gonna be taken firstWhere are you?You look likeyou didn't agree with me on anything thereI think the second half of the tablemaybe I'm sick or somethingbut I've got Fjölnir, Arman, Tinta stótt, StjartanGrindavík-Kaur kind of interchangeGrindavík?They've added a lot of players manThey would have to basically replace the whole thingand then I've gotKeplarik, Valdur, Heikur NjárðuríkWhat about Kaur?Where was Kaur? Interchangeableand 6th with GrindavíkWow, we really don't agree with each otherI don't knowI think you are better at watchingthe women'sI think you do have a better feel for the women's gameI go for example withValdur, the fact that last yearI would have said was theirdevelopment yearI think now they've kept the core of the teamthey've added a fewYes, they've lostValdur? Are we talking Valdur now? They've lost Ásta JúliaHow could I forget Ásta Júlia?Guðbjörg SjárðurstóttirShe retired, but she was injured most of the time anywayShe's likein my opinionthis is the most experienced player in the leagueeverNo player has played more games than she hasI understand that, but I'm sureif we counted how many games she was injuredit would have been differentFair play to her, yesshe was the rockI think coachMarke, she is I think with childbut no, I just believeValdur's last year was their development yearwith their youthHeikur Lovisais retired, but I still think they're very strongThey've lost a lot of players though, manEmil, I mean, I thinkI don't thinkViktor, the new coach, is a bad coach or anythingbut I don't think he's as good a coach as Emil wasOkayAnd they've lost a lot of players, manand then I've just got it completely wrongWe'll keep tabsOkayWe're jumping aroundLike I said with KaurI just thought that theythey didwatching them in thein a few games, I thought they did welllast yearThen again, it just depends which team turns upSorry, I've got to stop on one thingKaurYou put them in thefifth, sixth position? Fifth or sixth, yesThey addedthis yearthe best national team playeron the Icelandic women's squadright nowI said we can't have a differenceSure, you're just wrongMaybe I amBut even besides thatI'm going to read it right nowhas been added onfrombut played for last yearShe's back and she's in shapeIt looks likea great young playerGreat young playerand then you know justforeign players coming inBut we've also forgot to mentionAnd then they re-signed RebeccaWe forgot to mention, Fjölnir is in the leaguebecause Hamathorbasically stopped happeningSo Fjölnir were invitedupSo it's kind of likeagain, the only reason I've put them in tenth positionis because that's a huge step up fromdivision one tothe top divisionYeahI can't remember the readingWas Athena offered to go upand they said no or justThey withdrewThey were offeredand they withdrewand I don't want to talk about it more than thatI'm just doneI'm doneThis is no longera discussion about the teamIt's always about the coachI also saw the nice thing the other dayabout young boys basketballat AthenaGood for themWe should always beI always believeI still believe teams are too close to each otherin the cityYou have your communityYou kind of promote from withinIt's good that just more children will come and play basketballI think that's good for the sportYou might not likeHey just waitApril is the annual conferenceThen we can have our laugh again at kind of what happensSureWhat new rules are brought inOh did youI'll mention that at the endThey're bringing in a funA different new ruleDid you hear about thisTrying to figure out a word for itDisruptive fouland a flagrant foulThey're trying to distinguish between the twoso that you can still foulsomebody towards the end of a gamebut not be flagrantI don't thinkI don't think it's a bad distinctionI just thought it was interestingand I'm looking forward to seeing how theywork this outI'm looking forward to Calcoy's new website comingApparently it's still in the pipelineor somethingYeah we'll seeSo continuing onThe reason I'm going to defendthe GrindavíkMy Grindavík being in first positionis that they have addedWell for oneI reallyI've been coached bywho's coachingwho has been signed on to coach GrindavíkI think he's a great coachand he has shown that he's a good coachin the women's league with Stjartan lastand the only reason he was no longer coaching themis becausethe club decided to disbandthe teamThey gotcoming back fromthe NCAAThey gotThey gotThey've re-signedand this is what really sold meThey've re-signed most of the teamfrom last yearIsabella, Ellen Nyström, Abby BeemanJenny Geertal, Fai AbdiI mean they've re-signedYes they've lost Emily HesseforsI only put them in fifth placeFifth, sixthI mean that's a big difference though manAlrightWhat about NedvíkI put them firstYeah? No I didn't put them firstI put them secondHey I mean you don't have to be in first to win the championshipI think we've all seen thatListen wewe've put all these thingsall our sort of rankings downI kind ofI will go back to the fact that sat in that meeting last yearthe rankings meetingwhere nobodywe got I think the lowestpoints totalthat you could actually physically getThat's because you didn't have one foreign player on your teamSo things changeYeah of courseThese are just power rankingsWe stayed in the first divisionWe proved everybody wrongWe then chose not to be in the first divisionPurely down to moneyBut we chose not toDo you get what I meanSo it wasn't the fact that we got relegatedIt wasn't the fact that blah blah blahSo what I meanWhat I mean with us kind of going about theseour predictions or whateverthings can work, things cannot workplayers can get injuredDo you get what I meanI mean this is very much me talking out of my buttI know thatI know you're having a go at me all the timeWe've got about five minutes before we get goingSure, sure, sureI want to move on toWe really don't agree on Ottoman for oneand then I want to talk about KeplikSo whyOttoman isn't losing that many playersin my opinionI have themYou had them in the bottomNinthThey haveThey have Birkitoscoming from SpainThey haveThey have DiamondI thought Diamond Battles was an interesting adBut I can't rememberWho is actually going to be their coach this yearThat's going to be Friðrik JóhannssonI think that's a plusYes, okaySo maybe that's going to be my mistakedoing thatIt's not like Jóni Náþurti is coming backthe best player last yearI will give it to youthat I haven't found yetif they're going to be able to keepSilvjaRúnn HalltanBut KeplikLose their best playerThe little butchersare one year olderWhat do you think? Is seventh position too low?Is it too kind?I think they might...Like I've putI've put Keplik just because ofthe experience they havewith everyone togetherI've put them as high as fourthI think you're crazyYeah, so you've said that many timesI mean we're talking likeSo, Sara Rúnn is outHer sister Bríðirhas apparently quithas apparently retiredAgnes Maria Svamstóttirthe sisterof the shooterNext time, don't ask me for my predictionsI meanthis is why people like listening to usYou guys call you an idiot and you call me an idiotNo, but I get itLike the fact thatI can be completely wrongYou could sayStjartanTindistóttKeplik will be lower downArman Grindavík-KaurI should put higher upBut who knows? They could have an absolutely great recruitmentsort of on the foreign sideand be further up the tableYou just never knowAnd then I'm just noticing now that II didn't put Tindistótt very highbut I mean I didn't think they've added enoughplayers, but for instancethey've added KolpernmarjaShe's coming back from Hannover, GermanyShe isand has always been a pretty good playerbut I'm just thinkingis it enough to have her and four foreign playersLike who elseon that team?Okay, we're basically sayinganywhere from third to ninthwe might have got completely wrongSo what we're saying iswe have no earthly ideaAlright, so which team do you thinkright nowknowing what you knowwhat team is the strongestin the women's division?NjárðuríkYeah, maybe you're rightMaybe it is NjárðuríkWe've also seen their result yesterday as wellYeah, yeah, I mean like that'sThat's a statement36 points against the other teamThat is true, yeah, you're right thereAnyway, you can't disagree by the wayNo, no, no, no, no, like I meanI call you an idiot but I respect your opinion, of courseBut you're wrong, DavidI respect your opinion, it's wrongbut I respect it anywayOh, so do you want totalk about the disruptive foul oranything else?Do people put their word in thatthey want to kind of call it or whateverThat's basically what they want, they just want a word for itIt's not the fact that you're going to affect the rulingIt's just they need a word for itI think it's a fun gameThe Icelandic word for it they wantThere's a thing calledmakingThere's a traditionin Iceland of making new words fornew things as they come into the vernacularWhat I think is alsoexciting, I know like yeahthese new words and everythingThis I think is bigIt is theconference yearLike there will be peoplePeople joke with me and I would find itfunny if people did thisBut people are like, David, we need to get rid of the blue floorYou doWe want to make it so that you have to have aparquet floor to play in the first divisionNot a recommendationbut a ruleAnd I'm like, great, do thatAnd then in years to come as we're nowbuilding with our youth and everything elseIn years to comeMaybe then we get to the first division againand somebody foots 60, 70 millionto put a new floor inI get itDid we discuss that Ífilskjöld decided tobe relegated from the first division?I mentioned it, were you not listening?NoI said the fact that we had a conscious decisionto try and do as much as we couldto gain sponsorshipand gain the moneyWe were advisedJust sign up and you'll raise the moneyanywayI was one of those advisorsI know, but then I put you on the spotand said, ok, how much help are you going to beto get new sponsorship?NopeYou don't run your own house like thatand you can't run a club like thatbecause if you get into debt, like I've said, to Kalköyit then affects the whole of the club, youthand everything elseThe conscious decision wasand you also had playersthat basically said, we didn't want to fightat the bottom of the first division anymorewe want to playfor our hometown againor we just want to go to another cluband I'm like, that's okI had a meeting with all the Meisterflokkerand it's just, we triedand it's kind of like, everybody had a greattime last yearthey loved the fact that we stayed in the divisionbut financially you can't risksigning up and hopingfor the bestso now you just rebuildand you bring your youth throughand I look at Aftaröldingit's a very good example of how they'vebuilt their youth and everything elseand MeisterflokkerExcuse me, it's, you knowI don't knowI don't think I disagree with you necessarilyI just didn't know if we had talked about itenough, or whateverNo, it's just, decisionsunfortunately, money rules on certain thingsand you just have togo with things, but we shouldn't finish on that noteI think it's greatjust seeing how much basketball is aroundat the minute, it's greatjust how many teams are playingand just how much sort of basketballis in and around itand how much youth is playingI mean, I'm excited for the beginning of the seasonI don't even knowwhat the first games are, let's seelast thing, let's check out the first gamesof the seasonI think that's going to be funny because it'sBraille vs ZoltánSintra í égNeboja vs BorseOh, that's going to be so funOh, but it's a wayI'm not going, it's a freakingthat's a six-hour driveBorse gives me a rideSpeedo and everything will be, you know, all the camerasand everything, I went to the meeting the other dayit's one of the big things they're doingZoltán is Höttur, oh, I think that's going to bea real difficult game for HötturValur Stjarnan will be interestingNérðvíkTintastókI don't know, I don't know if that's going to be a good gameI think Grindavík-Káður is going to be a great gameAnd that's the first roundOn the women's sideOn the women's side we haveOh, Káður Stjarnanfirst game29th ofwhich is in just about two weeksÁramann Grindavíkcould be a gameTintastók-KeplavíkI think Tintastók will probably win that gameValur NérðvíkI mean, we're not predicting, I'm just thinkingif this is going to be a good gameValur Nérðvík could be a good gameand it is actuallyÁsta Júlia playing for heragainst Þorðváttand then Haukar Fjölnirwhich I don't think is going to be a very fun gameI meanI think Haukar have fallen offsince last yearbut not that muchSo we'll seeYeah, it's going to be funYou excited? You think the financial bubble will burstat any point? You mean within the basketball community?Just teams living without of their meansor having big sugar daddiesor whatever they can lean onI don't knowShout outDavid, thank you very muchMy pleasureI like the chat room, it's funIt's an interesting spaceI'm sure we will get into a routineOur editor Davíðaltur is going to hate me for thisI finally remembered now our sponsorsIt's KristallIt's Kristallwhich is the only thing we drink on most podcastsbesides teaLekillCar financingcalculators and stuff like thatWe haveVotpunwhich is
